Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Ornate Engraved Locket & Fancy Chain Necklace (C2942)

Description
An antique Victorian sterling silver locket and fancy chain dating around 1880. The locket has ornate scroll engraving to the front with a decorative horizontal band formed from a fancy woven chain style section. The reverse is plain polished and the bale carries a partial hallmark. Internally, the left panel has a spiked retaining ring to hold a thicker card backing for a photo, while the right panel has a standard retaining ring with acetate cover.
The chain is a twisted fancy‑link design, and is fitted with a spring ring clasp. A lovely example of late 19th‑century silver craftsmanship, very in vogue currently and becoming increasingly hard to find.

Very good antique condition with light age‑related wear. One slight indent to locket back. Hinge and closure fine, spring ring working fine. Acetate is of course not origina
