Description

A late Victorian hand painted china tazza by Wedgwood.  It has a cobalt blue border with extensive gilt work and embossed gilt to the rim.  To the underside it has the Wedgwood Portland mark which dates it between 1878 and 1891.  It would have been part of a dessert service although these items were generally kept for the artwork rather than being used. 
 
The central area is hand painted with a rural river scene with a wooden bridge and an evening sky.  The scene is not signed which is expected for this period, signatures where not common before the 20th century.

Condition

Flat flake chip to the foot rim approx. 10mm wide by 1mm deep as seen in the final image.  Some crazing to the underside of the base.
