An interesting Wedgwood jug from the first half of the 19th century.  It is a moulded jug in the feldspathic style with a dark blue jasper dip rim.  It is clearly taking design elements from Chetham & Woolley and has a detailed scene of horses, hunters and hounds.  We have seen a lot of Wedgwood over the years, but this is a new one on us.  The mark 'Wedgwood Etruria' was only used for a short period 1840-5 giving a nice framing for the time period at the start of the Victorian era

The body appears to be stoneware with a thicker glaze to the interior than exterior.  We have managed to find another similar jug referenced although it was unmarked and has applique over the jasper dip.

Lots of speckles in the white body.  Minor wear for period.
