Description

A beautiful silver gilt filigree jewel box.  It was made in Portugal at the end of the 19th century and has exquisitely detailed filigree work.  The lid is enhanced with a circular panel in blue and white enamel and the centre is set with an enamelled guilloche cross.  It has hallmarks to the centre of the base and also to the inner rim of the lid.  The hallmarks are the Portuguese standard for 0.83 silver.  Boxes such as this were used to store fine jewellery etc. 
 
 
 

Condition

Some minor gilt wear in places, particularly where it has been handled more around the lid as you would expect.  Generally in very good order as can be seen in the images.
