G Vallon Opalescent Glass Bowl Art Deco Period Cerises (Cherries) Design (3058)
An Art Deco period glass bowl by G Vallon (France). It is in the cerises (cherries) pattern, and this design is the only known pattern produced under this name. It is the style of Lalique and dates around 1920-30. Little is known about this designer and it is suspected these bowls were manufactured by Cristallerie Choisy-le-Roi in Paris who manufactured art glass for a number of prominent French designers of the period. On a dark background the glass shows as a blue tone, and when strongly backlit you see oranges in the opalescent areas. It has the moulded G Vallon mark to the outer section of the bowl.
