Description

Moorcroft Enamels occupy a distinct corner of the Moorcroft story. When the Moorcroft pottery acquired the Kingsley Enamelware company - itself a maker with a long tradition in English decorative enamels - they began producing a range of miniature enamel pieces that sat apart from the familiar slip-trailed pottery. The range ran for a relatively short period, which makes surviving examples with their original boxes increasingly sought after.

This vase carries a hand-painted floral design with white and red blooms. To the underside it is marked with the Moorcroft Enamels backstamp and the lead painter's mark 'FW'. It comes with its original presentation box and insert card - the card left in place as it had become trapped between the case and display holder.

Condition

Vase in good order with a slight enamel flaw to the edge of the base - minor and consistent with the hand-made nature of the piece. Box also in good condition.
