Description

A pair of early 20th century candlesticks converted from Imperial German naval officers swords. Beautifully detailed handles and folding guards with wire braided grips. Note the red gems set to the lions eyes at the pommel end. The blades have been mostly cut off (there is no cutting edge) and set with brass sconces and they also have attached pierced brass feet. They date just post WW1 around 1920. The quality of work in the sword hilts is particularly good as you can see in the close ups. Fine pieces of military memorabilia.

Condition

Very good for this type of item and period, minor oxidising to the blade stubs. One handle grip has some age related cracks, quite typical for this type of sword. They have been kept pretty well polished as you can see and are ready for display.
