Description

An early 20th century plate hand painted by Richard Sebright for Royal Worcester.  Sebright is considered the finest fruit painter at Worcester of this period and quite possibly the finest fruit painter of all time.  The central reserve features yellow plums, gooseberries and blossoms and is signed R Sebright.  The border has elaborate fine gilt work with raised jewelled dots over the cobalt blue and pink ground.  To the reverse it has the Royal Worcester puce mark with date code for 1916. The original price sticker remains to the reverse from when this place was acquired in the 1990's.
 
These plates were described as dessert plates, however given the nature of the decoration they were generally used just for display.  
 
 

Condition

Remarkably good for period with minimal wear.
