Description
A Royal Worcester trumpet vase hand painted with a woodland scene of male and female pheasant. It was painted by James Stinton, with the Stinton family being the some of the most famous of the Worcester artists noted for their game and cattle work. Pheasants were perhaps James' strongest subject and you can see the birds are beautifully rendered against an almost watercolour style background, this perhaps unsurprising as outside of work at Worcester James was a prolific watercolour artist. This vase is the 7.5 inch version, one of the larger trumpet shapes and has the Worcester mark to the base for 1934.
