Description
A Royal Worcester China vase hand painted with English roses by Ethel Spilsbury and signed to the body. The roses are painted in the Hadley style and Miss Spilsbury worked with Kitty Blake at the Worcester factory. This example dates to 1930 and has a puce mark to the underside.
This is the largest of the trumpet shaped vases produced at Worcester based on the Grainger designs which they took over in the late 19th century. The body code G923 references the Grainger heritage with the 'G'.
A very nicely painted example and quite uncommon in this large 9'' size.
Condition
Very good for period, minimal wear. The gilt a little heavily applied around the base. White areas near the base are reflections from the photographic lighting.
