Description
The vase is of squat, four-panelled form, the panels divided by moulded details finished in antique tone gold. Each painted panel carries blackberries and autumnal foliage rendered with the close observation and confident brushwork characteristic of Kitty Blake's work. Blake was among the most accomplished of the Worcester fruit and berry painters working in the mid-20th century, and signed examples of her blackberry subjects are particularly sought after by collectors of Worcester studio painting.
The base carries the Royal Worcester printed mark in black with the date code for 1951.
Condition
Very good order. Slight wear to the gilt at the rim, consistent with age and use. No chips, cracks or restoration.
