A vintage Sheaffer Imperial Sovereign fountain pen and mechanical pencil set in 14ct gold filled casings with a diamond pattern over a black ground. Both are white dot versions, marked 14K G.F. Casing Sheaffer USA. The fountain pen has a self-filling cartridge system and the 14ct gold inlaid nib. The mechanical pencil is working with lead in the barrel and spare lead included. Supplied in the original hard case with purple satin interior.

Description

A matched Sheaffer Imperial Sovereign fountain pen and mechanical pencil set. The casings are 14ct gold filled with a repeating diamond pattern over a black ground, giving the set a distinctive appearance. Both pieces carry the white dot, Sheaffer's quality mark, and are marked 14K G.F. Casing Sheaffer USA.

The fountain pen operates on a self-filling cartridge system. The nib is 14ct gold. The cartridge has been cleaned though some residual green ink remains in the system. The mechanical pencil has lead in place and is working correctly, with additional spare lead stored in the barrel.

The set is supplied in its original hard case with a purple satin interior, as shown in the photographs.

Condition

Fountain pen and pencil both working and in good order with minor surface wear. The case exterior shows minor wear. The case interior has some unevenness of colour and the satin lining to the lower section is rubbed in places where the pen and pencil have rested.
