Summary

A novelty sterling silver pill or trinket box shaped as a wrapped sweet, with a polished oval centre and crimped wrapper ends.

Description

The smooth oval centre forms the box, flanked by cast silver wrapper ends modelled with folds and creases. The contrast is in the surfaces: a plain polished lid between the gathered twists of the wrapper.

A side hinge allows the lid to open onto a plain silver interior. The exterior carries a full Birmingham hallmark for 2000 together with the maker's mark LI, while the interior is additionally stamped 925.

The coin shown is for scale only and is not included in the sale.

Condition

Very good condition with light surface wear consistent with careful use. The hinge operates correctly and the lid closes neatly.
