Description

These sterling silver Graffiti Kiss stud earrings were designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. Inspired by the energy of handwritten graffiti, the collection translates simple  brushstrokes into sculptural jewellery.

Paloma Picasso, daughter of Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot, joined Tiffany & Co. in 1980 and has since produced some of the house's longest-running and most commercially successful jewellery collections. Trained in theatre costume design rather than jewellery, she brought an instinct for bold, wearable form that set her work apart from the more conventional fine jewellery of the period. Her designs draw on her upbringing in the orbit of twentieth-century art - the Graffiti collection in particular reflects an interest in mark-making as expression, translating the immediacy of a written gesture into something permanent in silver. The collection has remained in continuous production since its introduction, a measure of how well the original idea holds.

The earrings are fitted with post and butterfly fixings for pierced ears. To the reverse they are marked Tiffany & Co., Paloma Picasso, 925 and ©. They are offered without the original Tiffany packaging.

Condition

Very good condition with only very minor signs of wear consistent with careful use. The posts and butterfly backs are in good order.
