Summary

A vintage 18ct gold ring set with an oval natural blue sapphire in a raised mount, with diamond-set offset shoulders giving the piece a subtly asymmetric character.

Description

The sapphire is oval facet cut, approximately 5.15mm x 4.5mm, with a strong, deep blue tone. The colour sits at the richer end of the spectrum - saturated without tipping into inky darkness. Inside the band, alongside the 750 mark for 18ct gold, the number 058 is struck - denoting the approx carat weight of the sapphire.

The shoulders are offset rather than symmetrical, each set with small diamonds and angled slightly differently to the other. It is a considered design detail that lifts the ring above the conventional.

Sapphire is the birthstone for September.
