Description

A 9ct yellow gold signet ring set with a hematite intaglio depicting a centurion's head in classical profile. The intaglio measures 15.18mm x 13.25mm and sits within a bezel mount with toothed detail around the outer edge, the teeth giving the setting a defined border that frames the stone. The overall head including the mount measures 18.77mm x 16.25mm.

The shoulders are broad, tapering from 6.25mm at the head down to 3.35mm at the shank, which runs as a plain band. Inside the band is a London assay office hallmark in the international convention format, consistent with production in the 1980s or 1990s, together with the maker's initials EJ.
