Description

The citrine is the story here. At 25 carats it dominates the finger, but it is the depth of the cut that earns attention - the facets are steeply angled, drawing light down into the stone and returning it changed. In certain light it reads as clear golden citrine; shift the angle and a smoky warmth takes over, the colour somewhere between gold and shadow.

The setting is 9ct gold, simply worked to let the stone lead. To the interior of the band, an older British 9ct hallmark dates the ring to the 1960s or early 1970s - a period when large-stone cocktail rings were worn with genuine conviction. Band width is a slender 2.45mm, keeping the weight in the head where it belongs.

Citrine is the birthstone for November.
