Summary

A vintage 9ct yellow gold signet ring with a broad shield shaped head decorated with the three castles of Newcastle upon Tyne, set around a polished chevron.

Description

The broad shield shaped head carries three stylised castles arranged around a central chevron, a design relating to the historic arms of Newcastle upon Tyne. Fine vertical texturing fills the recessed ground, contrasting with the raised castles and smooth polished chevron.

The shoulders taper smoothly into a plain polished band. The ring weighs 6.33 grams and is a UK size M, approximately US size 6.25.

Inside the band is a full London hallmark for 9ct gold with the date letter for 1976, together with the maker's mark SJ.

Supplied in a complimentary brand new presentation gift box.

Condition

Very good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age. The castle detail remains well defined and the hallmarks are clearly struck. The ring has been professionally cleaned and polished.
