A vintage 9ct gold ring set with a 2.44ct prong-set purple topaz, the broad shoulders pierced with open work and textured detail in a modernist style, Birmingham hallmarked 1975.

Description

The purple topaz is the dominant feature - at 2.44 carats. The shoulders are broad and decorative, pierced with open work and finished with textured detail; the treatment is characteristic of the modernist jewellery aesthetic of the 1970s, where negative space and surface texture were used in place of additional stones. Inside the band a Birmingham hallmark, somewhat rubbed, appears consistent with 1975. The gold tests as 9 carat. Topaz is the birthstone for November.

Condition

Very good order for period. Minor wear to band. Minor wear to stone visible only under high magnification. Cleaned, polished and ready to wear or gift.
