Description

A finely detailed vintage 9ct gold bar brooch dating to 1981, designed in the style of late Victorian and Edwardian jewellery. The narrow bar is decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves and small bead accents at the junctions, with three natural turquoise cabochons arranged across the centre. The middle stone is slightly larger and raised within a square collet setting, giving a gentle focal point to the design; the two flanking stones sit in round settings at either side.

The overall form closely follows the decorative bar brooches popular around the turn of the 20th century. The full London hallmark confirms this as a later revival piece made in 1981 - a period when Edwardian and Victorian jewellery styles were widely revisited by British goldsmiths.

Turquoise is the birthstone for December.

The reverse is fitted with a hinged pin and rollover safety catch, making the brooch practical for regular wear on a jacket, scarf or blouse.

Condition

Good vintage condition with light age related surface wear. The turquoise stones are secure, the decorative detail remains well defined, and the pin and rollover catch function correctly.
