Description

The half sovereign dates to 1982 and carries the classic Benedetto Pistrucci St George and dragon reverse, which sits face-up in the mount. It is held in place with tabs rather than being permanently set, meaning the sovereign can be removed in future if required - a practical detail that preserves the coin's independent value.

The 9ct gold mount has wide shoulders with textured surface detail that tapers down to a plain lower band. The head measures 21.9mm x 21.8mm - wide enough to wear with authority without tipping into ostentation. Hallmarked to the interior of the band at the London assay office with a date letter for 1982, matching the sovereign itself.

Condition

The sovereign is in very good order. The mount shows some wear and thinning to the lower section of the band, but is perfectly sound to wear. Professionally cleaned and polished, ready to wear or gift.
