A vintage 9ct white gold ring set with an oval almandine garnet in a diamond halo, with further diamonds to the split shoulders.

Description

The garnet is oval facet-cut, approximately 8 mm x 6.1 mm, its colour sitting in the purple-red range characteristic of almandine. A full diamond halo surrounds the stone; the split shoulders carry further diamonds, so the sparkle continues down the band rather than stopping at the setting. Inside the band: marked DIA for diamonds, with a Sheffield assay office hallmark using the international gold mark, dating the piece to the 1990s.

Garnet is the birthstone for January.
