Vintage 9ct Gold Modernist Turquoise Cabochon Ring | London 1973 | UK Size J½ | B2400
Summary
A 1973 London hallmarked 9ct gold ring in a distinctly Modernist design, set with a natural oval turquoise cabochon. The asymmetric trifurcated shoulders and textured mount and bridge give the ring a sculptural quality characteristic of British goldsmithing of the period. Retailed by Lumbers of Leicester, with an original box.
Description
The ring is hallmarked inside the band with a London assay mark for 9 carat gold and the date letter for 1973, with the maker's mark CJ Ltd. The design is the standout feature - the shoulders divide into three asymmetric prongs that rise to meet the mount, framing the stone with textured detail across the bridge and surround. The turquoise cabochon is a good natural stone with even colour. The box is marked for Lumbers of Leicester, a long established East Midlands jeweller.
Turquoise is the birthstone for December.
Supplied in a complimentary brand new presentation gift box.
Condition
Particularly good for period. Very little sign of wear. Professionally cleaned and polished.
