Vintage Danish Silver Bracelet - Arne Henning Petersen - Foliate Openwork Panels - 830 Silver - c1950s-60s - C3010
Summary
A vintage Danish 830 silver bracelet by Arne Henning Petersen, formed from eight articulated openwork panels each decorated with raised leaves, slender stems and curling wire tendrils - marked AHP, 830S and 1
Description
The bracelet is built from eight shaped openwork links, each carrying a pair of raised heart-shaped leaves set against a framework of slender stems and fine curled tendrils. The botanical forms are modelled in 3d - the leaves have a softly domed surface that catches the light differently as the bracelet moves.
The reverse carries an oxidised finish that darkens the recessed areas, providing depth and contrast when the piece is viewed through the openwork. The articulated construction allows the bracelet to conform naturally to the wrist, and the concealed box clasp - set flush with the link design - maintains the visual continuity of the piece when worn.
The clasp is stamped with three marks: AHP for the maker, 830S denoting solid silver of 830 parts per thousand fineness (a standard widely used in Danish and Norwegian silverwork, equivalent to 83% pure silver), and the number 1, which is likely a design or model reference. The style and construction are consistent with Danish mid-century production from the 1950s to 1960s.
Arne Henning Petersen was a Danish silversmith identified by the AHP maker's mark. His work characteristically combined naturalistic botanical subjects with the clean structural sensibility of mid-century Scandinavian design.
Condition
Good vintage condition with normal surface wear consistent with age and use. The oxidised finish to the reverse is deliberate and original. The articulated links and box clasp are both working correctly.
