A scarce vintage French de Vianne cameo glass vase, decorated with a soft pink bamboo design over a pale golden ground. The tall tapered form gives the piece an elegant presence, with the de Vianne signature to the lower body.

Description

A graceful vintage French cameo glass vase by de Vianne, decorated with a delicate bamboo design.

The vase has a tall, gently tapering form in a warm pale golden tone. To the front, the cameo decoration shows bamboo stems and leaves in soft pink, giving the piece a refined botanical feel. The reverse is left plain, allowing the decorated side to sit clearly as the focus.

The lower body carries the de Vianne signature mark, while the base is unmarked. De Vianne cameo pieces are later 20th century French cameo glass rather than Art Nouveau period, and are known for combining sandblasted decoration with additional wheel cut detail.  We understand the factory ceased operations in the 1980's and that their cameo work was produced from the 1960's to the 80's

The restrained colour palette works particularly well with the bamboo subject, creating a light, understated decorative piece. It would sit beautifully as a cabinet vase, mantelpiece piece or part of a collection of French art glass.

Condition

Very good vintage condition with minor wear. There are some air bubbles within the glass, including one under a bamboo leaf which creates a slightly different colour at that point. Please note this is a handmade / finished item, not a mass produced factory piece.
