A wide vintage sterling silver hinged bangle with bright cut leaf decoration against a textured ground and a patented sliding strap opening.

Description

Broad leaves sweep across the upper section, their polished surfaces and bright cut veins standing out against the finely textured ground. The decoration continues just beyond the edges of the top section, while the remainder of the underside is plain. The bangle is hollow in construction, with a substantial section measuring 22mm wide.

A sliding silver strap bridges the opening. As the bangle hinges open, the strap extends to increase the space for passing it over the hand, then slides back into place when the bangle is closed. It is stamped with patent number 897224 and the words Made In England.

The hallmarks are struck to the interior and include the sterling silver mark, a date letter for 1972 and the maker's mark EJC.

Condition

In good order, with minor wear and light surface scratches consistent with age. The hinge and clasp work correctly.
