Description

A vintage silver cigarette box lined with a mahogany interior.  It is in the Art Deco style with engine turned lid detail but dates a little later.  The hallmark is for Birmingham 1963 with the maker John Rose, a noted silversmith operating from Hockley Street in the Birmingham jewellery quarter.  The lid has a rectangular cartouche in the center which has been left blank and not engraved.

To the underside it is stamped 'Made in England'.  The interior has guides for a divider which is not present.  Originally this would have been for cigarettes or small cigars but could of course be used now for many purposes such as a desk box or for jewellery.

Condition

Some minor period wear and some rubbing of the hallmarks.  A few very small indents.
