Description

Gate bracelets have been popular in Britain since the Victorian period, their openwork construction originally inspired by the appearance of ornamental wrought iron gates. By the late twentieth century they had become a classic jewellery design, valued for their flexibility, comfort and timeless appearance.

This example is formed from articulated gate links with a gently twisted profile that catches the light from different angles. The bracelet fastens with a traditional heart shaped padlock clasp complete with its original safety chain.

The reverse of the clasp carries a full set of British hallmarks for London 1986 together with the maker's mark ASJ.

Condition

Very good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with careful use.
