Summary

Description
A vintage sterling silver ingot pendant produced by John Pinches in 1977 as a St Valentine's Day commemorative piece. The front face carries a detailed relief design: a continuous interlaced band forms a symmetrical figure-of-eight or infinity loop pattern with four heart shapes emerging from the negative spaces where the bands cross, all set on a fine stippled ground and framed within a scrolling acanthus-style decorative border. The pendant has genuine ingot depth rather than being a flat plate, which gives it a substantial presence at 35 grams total.
One edge is marked SILVER 925/1000 and another is inscribed ST. VALENTINES DAY 1977. The piece also carries the John Pinches production mark © JP 77 P and a 1977 London Assay Office hallmark.
John Pinches was a well regarded British maker of medals, commemorative silver, and limited edition collector's pieces. Other examples of this Valentine pendant are recorded with the same 1977 date and silver designation, placing it within a documented series.
The pendant is worn on a 61cm [24in] silver chain with a spring ring clasp, giving it a comfortable position below the neckline.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age and use. The relief decoration is clear and the chain is in good order.
