Description

This pair of mid century Wedgwood cufflinks combines black jasperware roundels with sterling silver fittings.

Each circular head is set with a black jasperware plaque decorated in white relief with a horse in motion. The designs derive from the paintings of George Stubbs, including the composition known as The Race Horse.

The roundels are mounted within plain sterling silver bezels. The posts are articulated at the heads, allowing a degree of side to side movement, while the toggle backs rotate through 360 degrees for fitting through a shirt cuff.

The posts are marked STERLING SILVER, with further marks around the inner bezel rims. The reverse of the jasperware plaques carries impressed Wedgwood marks, although these are partly obscured by the silver fittings.

Condition

Good vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The jasperware roundels are in good order, the articulated heads move correctly and both rotating toggle fittings operate as intended.
