Vintage Yard-O-Led Art Deco Propelling Pencil - Rhodium Plated - Engine Turned - C2832

Summary

A vintage Yard-O-Led Art Deco propelling pencil with a rhodium plated finish, fine engine turning and polished geometric panels. The twist mechanism is working, with 1.2mm lead in place.

Description

Fine engine turning gives this slim pencil its texture, broken up by polished geometric panels that catch the light along the barrel. The contrast is simple and effective, with the crisp decoration and tapered point giving it a smart Art Deco look.

Turn the top cap to advance or retract the lead. The mechanism is working and some lead is already fitted, so this is a vintage writing instrument that can still earn its place on a desk. It takes 1.2mm lead and measures 11.7cm long.

The pocket clip is marked Yard-O-Led, while the top cap carries the inscriptions Made in England, Rhodium Plated and Patent No. 422767. The rhodium plated finish gives it a bright silver colour.

Condition

Minor wear consistent with age. The mechanism is working, with some lead in place.
