Description

A propelling pencil by Yard-O-Led, the brand name marked down the pocket clip and the top cap inscribed Made In England, Rhodium Plated, Patent No. 422767. The body is decorated with engine turning - the fine geometric hatching that was a hallmark of quality writing instruments of the Art Deco period. The cap rotates to propel and retract the lead; the mechanism is working and lead is in place (1.2mm). Yard-O-Led have been making precision writing instruments in England since the 1930s, and pieces from this earlier period carry the patent markings that help date them.

Minor wear consistent with age. Working fine with some lead in place.
