Summary

A vintage 14ct gold ring centred on a carved salmon coral rose, the flower held within a setting of textured gold fronds arranged as claws, mid-20th century.

Description

The coral has been carved to form a rose, the white central area of the stone used deliberately as the focal point of the flower. The gold fronds wrap around the stone in place of conventional claws, their texture contrasting with the smoothness of the coral.

The ring sits with some presence on the hand, the head substantial enough to be noticed. Inside the band there are traces of marks, the gold tests as 14 carat. The piece dates to the mid-20th century. Carved coral rings of this quality are genuinely uncommon.

Condition

Very good for period. Marks to band rubbed but plenty of thickness remains and the gold is substantial overall. Cleaned, polished and ready to wear or gift.
