Antique Burmese Silver Thabeik Bowl with Repousse Fantastical Creatures (Code 2572)

Description

A Burmese silver bowl depicting mythical creatures in elaborate cartouches.  There is significant Thai influence with kanok patterns between the designs.  It is marked to the base with a flower.  It tests as around the .830 silver standard and is quite substantial for its type.  These bowls are based on alms bowls but are just intended as decorative items and were popular with foreign colonial visitors during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Condition

Minor wear, no holes or splits.  Some marks to the interior.
