Description

Hollow curb links form this short bracelet, measuring 12.5cm in length, with a large spring ring clasp of traditional form. Its size indicates that it was intended for a child. The bracelet is probably early 20th century, with charms of differing dates added over time.

The earliest coin is an East India Company two annas dated 1841, bearing the young head portrait of Queen Victoria.  The second coin is a South African threepence dated 1941, bearing the portrait of George VI. Its date falls exactly one hundred years after that of the two annas. 

Alongside the coins hang a three dimensional acorn, traditionally associated with growth, and a small standing lamb. Several unused connector rings remain on the chain, suggesting that other charms may once have been attached.

The bracelet is unmarked but tests as sterling silver.

Condition

Antique condition with normal age related wear. Some hollow links have knocks and slight distortion, and the coins and charms show wear consistent with age. Several unused connector rings remain attached. The spring ring clasp operates correctly.
