Description
A Georgian wine glass with a double series opaque twist stem (DSOT). It is an English example made in lead glass dating circa 1765. It is of three part construction, bowl, stem and foot were made individually and joined together in the glass works
The stem has a central spiral gauze made of of fine filaments and there is a pair of outer tapes in spiral corkscrew pattern. The foot is of conical form and the pontil is rough snapped. The bowl is an ogee shape.
Condition
Good order for period. Some tiny flea-bites to the underside of the foot rim. Good period wear to foot rim, minor wear to bowl. Tiny air bubble and mineral inclusions to bowl and foot as expected. No restoration/repolishing.
