Description

An antique 19th century mahogany artist's watercolour box. This example by Winsor & Newton and retaining the original labels to the interior. It has a lower drawer held in place by a drop pin and it has a flush brass handle. The lid has a stepped edge and the corner jointing fillets are visible and slightly proud.
 
The interior of the box is divided into various sections, there is a water dish and a few paints/holders. The back has a double track stack, one for the paints and one for brushes below. The paint holder has some paint names along the edge bar. There is a brass lock which is working and it comes with the key.  To the underside it seems to have the original material to the base. 
 
 
Condition

 

A well loved example.  See the images for overall presentation.  There are some losses to the labels.  The paint tray has losses of the wood edging.  The box has some knocks and indents in keeping with the period.  Hinges fine and lock working ok.
