An antique Victorian sterling silver sugar caster of baluster form with a decorative pierced cap, hallmarked London 1894, by W & C Sissons of Sheffield.

Description

A well proportioned sugar caster in the classic baluster form, the body plain and polished, rising to a domed cap with fancy pierced cut outs through which the sugar is dispensed. The cap fits tightly and removes cleanly.

Hallmarks are struck to the base: London assay office mark with date letter for 1894. The maker's mark for W & C Sissons (Walter & Charles Sissons), the Sheffield silversmithing firm known for quality domestic silver of this period.

Condition

Very good order for period. No significant knocks or dents. A little rubbing to the hallmarks, as expected. Cap fits tightly.
