Victorian Sterling Silver and Glass Miniature Scent Bottle - Chester 1891 - 4.1cm - 3000

Description

Scrolled and floral decoration covers the silver case of this small scent bottle, which stands just 4.1cm tall. The hinged cap closes with a friction fit and has a plain top without engraved initials. Its interior is gilt washed.

The silver is hallmarked for Chester 1891. The maker’s initials are unclear, so the maker remains unidentified. This miniature form was intended to be carried in a purse for use away from home.

The hinge works and the cap closes tightly, but the interior glass stopper is missing.

Condition

Normal age related wear, with minor dents to the top of the cap and small nibbles around the interior glass opening. No internal stopper. The hinge is in good order and the cap closes tightly.
