A vintage Royal Doulton bone china English Foxhound, standing alert with its head lifted and tail raised. Hand decorated in white, black and russet, this is the medium HN1026 model of Ch. Tring Rattler.

Description

There is plenty of character in this foxhound's face, from the dark eyes and folded ears to the fine dots around its muzzle. The lifted head and raised tail give it an alert, attentive look, while the long legs and lean body capture the build of a working hound.

Russet colouring warms the head and hindquarters, with shaded black markings across the back and a white chest and legs. The glossy glaze brings out the modelling, particularly around the shoulders and face. At 14cm high, it is a compact figure with enough detail to reward a closer look.

Designed by Frederick Daws for Royal Doulton, HN1026 depicts the champion English Foxhound Ch. Tring Rattler. This is the medium version of the model, which was produced between 1931 and 1960. The underside bears the Royal Doulton factory backstamp and the painted model number HN1026.

Condition

Good vintage condition. There are three tiny white manufacturing glaze flaws on one flank.
