Description

A Sheaffer Targa 676 Classic fountain pen from the 1980s. The barrel and cap carry the Gold Feather finish - a finely patterned wavy guilloche in gold over the full body - with black end caps to barrel and cap crown, and 23 carat gold plated trim throughout. The cap clip is gold tone with the Sheaffer white dot to the cap crown.

The 14K solid gold nib is the Sheaffer inlaid design, sitting flush with the black section in the characteristic Targa manner rather than protruding above it. The nib is marked SHEAFFER, 585 and 14K together with the Sheaffer device. It writes an approximately 0.6mm line, consistent with a medium grade.

The black section carries metal threads stamped 0293 above. The pen takes the Sheaffer removable converter, which is present and has the red fill aperture - allowing the pen to be used with bottled ink.

Supplied with the original red hard shell Sheaffer presentation case and the original fold out Sheaffer instruction pamphlet.

Condition

Pen in particularly good vintage condition with only light signs of previous use. The Gold Feather patterned finish, trim and nib all present very well. The original red case has some losses and wear to the exterior finish consistent with age; the interior remains presentable.
