Summary

A sterling silver money clip with an engine turned front incorporating a vacant cartouche and a polished reverse, Birmingham hallmarked and dating to around 2000, made from a substantial 0.9mm gauge of silver.

Description

The clip has a traditional folded form - engine turning to the front, plain polished reverse. The engine turned pattern runs across the face in a fine, regular grid, centred by a plain rectangular cartouche left vacant for personal engraving. At 0.9mm gauge and 17.7 grams, it has a reassuring solidity; this is not a lightweight piece. The spring tension is firm and the clip holds banknotes securely.

Hallmarked by the Birmingham Assay Office and bearing the International Convention mark, confirming sterling standard. The International Convention mark - a set of scales within an oval - was introduced to allow hallmarked silver to be recognised across signatory countries without re-assaying, and its presence here places the piece within a well-documented quality framework.

Condition

Very good condition with only light signs of use. Spring tension remains firm and the clip functions as intended.
