Summary

A fine early 20th-century 14ct gold bracelet set with seed pearls and turquoise cabochons, retailed by the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company and supplied in its original fitted case. A well-made piece of good weight at nearly 20 grams, in very good order.

Description

The bracelet is constructed in a multi link format, with alternating panels set alternately with silvery white seed pearls and turquoise cabochons. The turquoise varies naturally in tone from blue to green across the stones, as is characteristic of natural turquoise. The links are of good weight and the bracelet sits well on the wrist at 17.5cm in length.

It is fastened with a slide clasp and safety chain. No hallmarks have been found, however the gold tests consistently as 14 carat. The bracelet fits precisely in its original fitted case, which is from the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company - a prominent London retailer of the period - with a purple velvet interior and burgundy leatherette exterior.

Condition

The bracelet is in very good order. The clasp functions correctly and the safety chain hooks on securely. The fitted case shows age related wear - some surface pitting to the underside and light aging to the fabric interior.
