A vintage sterling silver heart shaped trinket box with a hand-engraved scrolling foliate lid, hinged construction, and a Sheffield import hallmark for 1994, bearing the maker's mark JMH.

Description

The box is of heart form in sterling silver, the domed hinged lid decorated with hand-engraved scrolling leaves and feathered foliate details that cover the full surface of the lid. A fine dotted border runs around the edge of the engraving, separating the decoration from the plain sides of the box. The interior is plain polished silver throughout.

The underside bears the maker's mark JMH, the Sheffield Assay Office import mark, a 925 standard mark and the date letter for 1994. The hinge is secure and the friction closure operates correctly.

Condition

Good vintage condition with light age-related surface wear. Some scuffs to the underside of the base from normal use, with slight signs of wear elsewhere. The lid opens and closes correctly.
